Our school Concert and Jazz Bands took part in an Eisteddfod Prep Day on the Saturday of Week 4, at Southport State High School. The use of the external site allowed the students to use the full range of percussion equipment that will be provided to them at the HOTA, in their inaugural performances at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod on Wednesday and Thursday of Week 6. Thank you to our very committed band students for giving their time on Saturday, to Ms Purton and Mr Armstrong for organising and directing the workshop, and to our friends at Southport SHS.
Gold Coast Eisteddfod Times
Wednesday 16/08/23 – Concert Band and String Ensemble
- Student drop off time 4pm
- Performance session (for both groups) starts 5pm
- QAHS String Ensemble appears 3rd in the A Grade String Orchestra session
- QAHS Concert Band appears 2nd in the A Grade Concert Band session.
Thursday 17/08/23 – Jazz Band
- Students drop off time 6.30pm
- Performance session starts 6.30pm
- QAHS Jazz Ensemble appears 8th in the B Grade Stage Band session.
