Principal Mrs Vanessa Rebgetz met last month with the Managing Director of the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct Mr Craig Rowsell and the Marketing Director Ms Kathy Kruger for an update on the Precinct's developments and to further  collaboration opportunities for the QAHS learning community.

The Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct, a partnership between the City of Gold Coast, Griffith University, Gold Coast Health and the Queensland Government, is expanding exponentially. The precinct is dotted by the tell-tale signs of growth, building cranes, for the next stages of development which will see multi-storey locations for clinical trials, an Image-Guided Surgery Training and Technologies Centre and Clinical Entrepreneurship. The Early Childhood Centre of Excellence was recently announced, a location for Griffith University researchers and PhD students to develop innovative programs and early interventions for young children, including those with additional needs, by co-locating with the new Sanctuary Early Learning Centre and paediatric clinicians from Gold Coast Health.

The Precinct is already home to Griffith University, the Gold Coast University Hospital, a major Australian teaching hospital, and the cutting-edge Gold Coast Private Hospital. Already employing more than 14,000 people and home to almost 20,000 students, the GCHKP, once fully developed, will inject $2.9 billion into the local economy, supporting jobs for up to 26,000 people. The Precinct offers a dynamic, collaborative work environment for global health and knowledge companies and organisations to invest, cluster and grow, with land development, leasing and co-working opportunities on offer in the Lumina commercial cluster.

The GCHKP will continue to grow and evolve over the next 10-15 years.

QAHS is the only school located in the Precinct which is set to drive transformative change for the economy of the Gold Coast. We are proud to be a part of driving the Precinct's ambitious targets as part of its mission: Creating a highly connected, skilled and supported Precinct of public and private sector partners and community members, to deliver transformation for global impact, creating the jobs of the future and diversifying the Gold Coast's economy.

We featured this week in the GCHKP’s latest news published on the website. To learn more about the emerging opportunities being grown in the Precinct, read here.
