We are thrilled to announce the successful appointment of five of our Year 10 QAHS students to the 2023 Queensland Global Youth Summit Student Advisory Council.
The 2023 Queensland Global Youth Summit and accompanying workshops commence in July this year and bring together Year 8 to 10 students from various schools around Queensland to foster global competence.
Congratulations to Queensland Global Youth Summit Student Advisory Council student ambassadors: Sahanya Abeyratne, Athena Hua, Marion Khoo, Naajiya Mohinudeen and Yanyan Zhang.
From next week, these students will engage in meetings to provide feedback on the initial design of the workshops and Summit, facilitated by the Asia Education Foundation. The program consists of synchronous online workshops and several asynchronous learning activities and will culminate in an all-day, in-person Summit on Tuesday 17 October, 2023.
The Summit and workshops are designed to enhance students' knowledge and understanding of global competence, perspectives, diversity, the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, effective communication, collaboration, and presentation skills. Throughout the program, students will consider how they can "think globally, act locally" by developing a range of actions to promote inclusivity and equity in their local school communities, which they will showcase at the Summit in October.
Well done to Sahanya, Athena, Marion, Naajiya and Yanyan. We are excited to see the progress and learning that unfolds through this wonderful opportunity.
