The goals and objectives of Rotary – to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise, together with building international relationships – go hand in hand with the aims of the International Baccalaureate® to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

QAHS Interact Club President, Janvi Makanjee, was recently elected to the position by Club members and will hold the position of President for the 2021-2022 financial year.

Invited to present this week at the Rotary Club of Parkwood's Youth night, Janvi outlined her approach to service and how the ideals of doing good to help others is a cornerstone of her view on life, fostered in her childhood from seeing abject poverty and hardship during a family trip to India.

Janvi is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Parkwood for the 2022 National Youth Science Forum, an honour she was notified of earlier this week, and so her presentation to the Club enabled Club members to meet and understand more about the nominee they are sponsoring for NYSF. Janvi was joined in presentations during Youth Night by the Principal Mrs Vanessa Rebgetz who spoke of the significant impact of Rotary youth programs and her own involvement as a young professional  in an International professional exchange Rotary program known as Group Study Exchange, to Canada in 1999. We also heard about the role of Rotaract, the next level of service membership of Rotary that QAHS graduates can join.

Janvi will have another opportunity to present to the welcoming Parkwood Rotary Club early in 2022 to share the experiences of NYSF.
