Over the past year, around 50 students have been participating in the "Letters to the Elderly" initiative as part of their CAS program. This experience involves writing heartfelt letters to elderly individuals living in local care homes.
During the last week of October, our students had the opportunity to meet their elder pen pals in person for the first time. It was a moment filled with anticipation and excitement as both generations looked forward to this special meeting.
During the visit, our students not only spent quality time chatting and bonding with their pen pals but also went the extra mile by offering an act of kindness. They painted their pen pals' nails, creating a relaxing and enjoyable experience for them. The smiles and gratitude exchanged between the students and the elderly residents were truly heart-warming.
This encounter was not only a testament to the power of human connection but also a reminder of the importance of intergenerational relationships. Our students gained a deeper understanding of the wisdom and life experiences that our elderly friends have to offer, while the elderly residents enjoyed the companionship and enthusiasm of our students. It was a memorable experience that touched the hearts of all involved.
