Congratulations to Year 12 students Peter KimGarlok Lu and Yalun Yang who were selected to attend the Australian Science Olympiad Summer School in Chemistry, Physics and Biology respectively.

"The Australian Science Olympiads Summer School is an enrichment program for secondary school students who are invited to attend based on their performance in the Australian Science Olympiad Exams."  - Australian Science Innovations, 2021

The 2021 Summer School is traditionally held during the January school holidays at the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, the event was hosted virtually this year, but contained the same rigour and collaboration of great young minds for which it has become renown. Garlok, Yalun and Peter worked with other students and subject specialists from around Australia in an intense schedule designed to test and extend our country's brightest young science minds.

Following the Summer School experience Yalun reflected that, "For me personally, the most enjoyable part of the camp were the labs that we were able to do using the equipment that was posted to us. It is satisfying to be able to work through the labs with like-minded people to exchange ideas and problem solve our way around the equipment - even short circuiting a couple of light bulbs in the process."

Garlok commented that, "It was so inspiring seeing others with the same passion for science, even though we were all from different backgrounds. The program was very fast paced, however, it made me realise the importance of a supportive environment."

Peter described his experience in the Biology Olympiad Summer School programme, "As an indescribably wonderful experience - I made friends, met amazing lecturers and found a newfound love for Biology and a goal to chase. It was truly a priceless experience and if anyone is fortunate enough to be given the chance, I strongly recommend participating."

Their performance in their individual Olympiad exams this year, placed them in the top 30 students in their field within Australia with QAHS the only school in Australia represented across three Science fields.
