This year our Year 11 Camp was held at Tangalooma Island Resort on Moreton Island. The weather was perfect, the food delicious and the facilities and surrounds spectacular. Students took part in varied activities including a back of house tour where they learnt about the resort's sustainability program, from how they run their electricity, how they recycle, what they do with the waste and also about the resort's whale conservation program. Students also hiked to the lookout and were taught about the land, the Indigenous heritage and the animals and plants on the island.

On the second morning both groups took part in sand tobogganing! A definite highlight of the trip even with the difficult climb to the top of the sand dunes. The students also had great fun in the water feeding the wild dolphins as a part of a program that has been set up by the resort, the students learning about the dolphins and just what an amazing animal they are.

All students pushed themselves out of their comfort zones and enjoyed some time to regroup before getting back into their studies. Students continued to form strong connections and bonds and experienced more independence (remembering to take their room key with them and not leave it in their room was a big lesson for some).

A huge thank you must go to all the incredibly wonderful staff who joined us on the camp and supported our students – Mrs Alder-Hughes, Ms Beigbeder, Mrs Stratton, Ms Linecker, Mrs Mackie, Mrs Reed, Mr Finlay, Mr Emery, Mr Yang and Mr Craig-Ward. Your time and commitment to ensuring the students had an unforgettable experience was appreciated by all.

Thank you to Tangalooma Island Resort for your assistance and ensuring the students felt welcome, connected and most of all for ensuring they had fun.

Well done Year 11 on an amazing camp. I know I had a fantastic time with you all.
